The recent update for SUNSOFT is Back! Retro Game Selection, released on September 6, 2024, brings three classic Famicom games to the West, officially localized in English for the first time. These games are:
- Firework Thrower Kantaro’s 53 Stations of the Tokaido (1986) – An action game where you play as Kantaro, a fireworks maker who must stop evil merchants from using his creations as weapons.
- The Wing of Madoola (1986) – An action-platformer where you help the warrior Lucia retrieve the powerful Wing of Madoola from the evil King Daltos.
- Ripple Island (1988) – An adventure game where you play as Kyle, a boy seeking to help King Dotella fight against the evil Emperor Groaker.
This release includes modern quality-of-life features such as save states, a rewind function, CRT filters, and options for multiple aspect ratios and borders. Additionally, a Gallery Mode has been introduced, featuring concept art, promotional materials, and 3D models of the original game cartridges, enhancing the nostalgic experience for both new and returning players
